The cold weather in Manitoba broke several temperature records in several communities on Thursday, including one that had stood since the 1940s.
Four communities in Manitoba have set new records for cold temperatures, according to a weather report from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
The coldest? The Roblin area reported a temperature of -37.1 C on Thursday. The old record was -35.5 degrees Celsius, dating back to 2000.
The Pilot Mound area reported a temperature of -34.3 C, lower than the previous record of -33.9 C set in 1940.
The Carberry area set a new record of -36.8 C, breaking the 1995 record of -35 C.
Finally, the Carman area reported a temperature of -34.6 C, down from -33.4 C reported in 1995.
